Pulp and Paper Waste Utilize

Among the waste treatments, solid waste treatment become the most difficult to treat, beside the solid waste should be convert into other kind of thing that can be use directly, solid waste is the end process of every fluid waste to result solid waste. The long chain of industrial waste treatment always ended with solid waste. If this solid waste can't be treated or utilize again then this solid waste become the end problem.

According to this condition, solid waste treatment always looking for the new solution and many researcher looking for the best treatment to overcome this problem. One of the study to utilize of solid waste is the study that aim to utilize of solid waste from cigarette paper mill.

This solid waste from cigarette paper mill is use to be filling material for gypsum board production. This study was administered based on the ASTM C473 test to acquire the optimum value and the characteristic of filling material and PVA glue. From the test, it was acquired the optimum procedure by adding an amount of 125 gram solid waste of cigarette paper mill and 12.5 gram of PVA has resulted that the refered combination met to the requirements to be gypsum board.

From the test resulted that the flexural strength and inertia of the resulted product was higher than the commercial gypsum. The same conclusion was also acquired for the result of water absorption and deflection for the addition of the solid waste of cigarette paper mill and PVA glue showed a significant decrease, indicating that the material can be applicable on a humid room atmosphere and immunity for firgus. The best result showed that the solid waste of cigarette paper mill and PVA glue is reliable to use as the filling material for the gypsum plafon.
