Toxic Wastes Accumulation

Among the toxic waste substances whose health danger have been documented are polychlorinated bipheyls (PCBs) poisons whose chemical structure is similar to that of the persistent pesticide (DDT). PCBs are believed to produce cancer in laboratory animals, and they have been linked to reproductive disorders, kidney damage, liver ailments, and eye irritations in humans. Ten years later, in the United States, an EPA survey revealed that nearly one third of nursing mothers had measurable amounts of PCBs in their milk. In an effort to regulate disposal of PCBs, EPA regulation material must be specially labeled and disposed of only at EPA approved waste disposal sites.
