Citarum River Problem

The problem on Citarum River may be have spread over the world because this river have been talk by many NGO even the international NGO like Greenpeace have inspect dirrectly to this river and see the condition and found many deviate condition on this river.

The problem is not just because this river become shallow but also contaminated the river by industrial waste and also municipal waste that have been a general condition in the world that never treat of municipal waste. While in the downstream of this river is treated become drinking water like in Jakarta.

Some industry that located in upstream of the river don't follow the regulation to treat their waste water before discharge into the river. Even many industry already treated waste water and discharge into the river as the regulation mentioned but the quality of the river will problem if use as drinking water because discharge water regulated by government is not fullfill for drinking water source.

Citarum river silting have been handled by Government by release budget to dredge the river. Dredging funded budget of Rp 1.3 trillion, which will be used during the three fiscal years through 2013. Early stage targets Citarum River dredging will be done along Sapan, Bandung regency, until Combong waterfall, Nanjung, West Bandung regency whose length is 45 kilometers.

Complete Waste Water Treatment

To process waste water treatment into perfect water treatment very difficult especially if the waste water contain of chemicals that really difficult to process, such as contain of gas dissolved in the water. Bacteria can’t process dissolved gas in water, bacteria just process organic matter that include in waste water. Like on the picture below is the example of perfect waste water treatment from inductrial waste.

Complete waste water treatment include separating solids, removing pollutant, improving product water quality, and promoting water savings and reuse. Coagulant have function to neutralize the electrical charges on suspended colloidal particles, allowing them to join together. Flocculant agent facilitate the agglomeration of the coagulated particles to form larger flocs, which settle much more quickly. Some coagulant substance can functions as a dual purpose either coagulant and floculant in that, they create large flocs that readly settle.
